Christmas is for life, not just December
We all know the Christmas story inside out and back to front. The donkey, the manger, the angels and shepherds and a star. But Christmas is not just a quaint annual tradition. At the heart of the story is a baby whose arrival changes everything, for all time. The first Christmas is the moment on which all of history turns, and in which all of creation is offered redemption.
This Advent at Worle Baptist we will join with those at Milton and Clarence Park Baptist Churches on an Advent journey, based on a book by Jo Swinney (published by BRF), in which will explore the significance of Jesus’ birth in the context of the whole Bible.
We invite you to sign up for an Advent devotional journey based on the book and produced by LICC. This 25-day devotional journey will help Christians explore the Christmas story’s place in the whole biblical narrative – and reflect on how Jesus’ birth promises redemption for all of our lives and all of creation.
Each day features a short reflection and a prayer prompt, both responding to a Bible verse. Throughout December, we will focus on five key stages in the biblical story. Each of these sections covers five days, and will connect to the theme on the Sunday Morning Service:
- God’s creation of a good world
- Humanity’s sin and fall
- The hope offered in the Old Testament
- Jesus’s birth and ministry
- The redeemed new creation he makes possible
You can sign up to receive the journey free via email or on the YouVersion App from November 2023. The first prompts will become available on 1 December.
Join the devotional journey two ways:
- Via YouVersion app, by searching ‘LICC Christmas’
- Via emails from LICC, by signing up at licc.org.uk/advent-journey
Starting in Genesis and working through to Revelation, we will see how Christ came to a world worth saving; how human sin affects every part of life; how God promised to redeem all of his creation; and how in Jesus, God made good on that promise.
